Our 2018 Paws on the Promenade dog walk was a great success with approximately 100 people and their dogs joining us for a lovely walk along the uMhlanga Promenade in KwaZulu-Natal.
From the teeny tiny to the big and fluffy to short and stocky, it was so exciting to see so many different types of dogs and their loving pet parents gather together in support of this wonderful community event.
Speaking of which, what a generous and giving community it is! Thanks to the generosity of our dog walkers, we raised R4090 and 50kg’s of pet food which all goes to Feeding the Furballs and Project Dog.
Project Dog brought along three-legged Casey who loved playing with all the other dogs, as well as Nala and Simba, two very happy Africanis dogs that took part in the walk.
Dogs and pet parents were spoilt with some fantastic lucky draw prizes, giveaways and gift bags.
Our lucky winners were:
- Robert and his Jack Russel, Layana, won a fabulous Hill’s hamper consisting of Hill’s dog food, food bucket and some toys
- Chantel Frew and Rocky who won an Alcott Retractable leash from Absolute Pets,
- Ravitha Singh and her pug Pablo who won a full grooming session from uMhlanga Dog and Cat Grooming Parlour; and
- a spot prize to the cutest Pomeranion who won a Zee.dog bow tie from Absolute Pets
A very big thank you to Hill’s Pet Nutrition who collaborated with us as a sponsor for this event and helped make it possible.
Also, to the following local businesses who added to the success of the day and provided amazing prizes and great advice to our dog walkers:
- uMhlanga Dog and Cat Grooming Parlour who sponsored 3 full grooming sessions as prizes and also donated 5 full grooming sessions to Feeding the Furballs.
- NexGard who sponsored a lucky draw prize.
- Idenitpet who microchipped 6 dogs on the day.
- Superdogs training school and daycare.
The safety of our dog walkers and their dogs was taken care of by the fantastic team at UIP (uMhlanga Improvement Precinct) managed by Dewet, the Precinct. Manager. They provided marshals, arranged a 911 medical team on standby and a cleaning team, ensuring a great experience for all.
Check out our Facebook album for more pics from the event and if you attended, please feel free to share your pics and tag Absolute Pets.
We hope to see more of you there next year!
Happy and Healthy,
